Hiroshima Sake Guide: Where To Find the Best Sake in Hiroshima

What makes sake from Hiroshima special? Aside from its clean flavor in harmony and synergy with the beverage’s rich aroma and taste, this place is also one of the centers of sake production across Japan, together with Kyoto’s Fushimi and Kobe’s Nada.

If you are headed to Hiroshima and do not try the sake here, you are missing out. Aside from the sake bars, Hiroshima is also home to a research facility studying sake, which organizes an awards ceremony that recognizes the best sake in the country.

Are you wondering where to find the best sake in Hiroshima? Read on for our top picks!

1. Kamotsuru

Kamotsuru is located in Saijo, dubbed as “the sake town.” Out of the many sake breweries here, this place is known as one of the first to ship out the daiginjo-shu variant of sake. The daiginjo-shu sake is often the most prized bottling of a sake brewery, wherein a minimum of 50 percent of the outer rice layers should be polished away for a sake to be classified as such. You can choose if you want sake with a fragrant or subtle aroma.
