1. Kakiya

A little overspending is nothing when you’ll be served with delicious seafood during your stay on Miyajima Island. Kakiya is the foodie destination for oysters that will make you forget your stresses. They won’t focus on classy food presentations, but it’s all about the taste. Find deep-fried breaded oysters, grilled oysters, smoked oysters, oyster miso soup, pickled oysters, and kaki meshi, or oysters cooked in soy sauce and topped over steamed rice in oyster broth.

2. Yakigaki No Hayashi
Just a couple of doors away from Kakiya is another seafood restaurant, Yakigaki No Hayashi. They also specialize in oysters, oysters as tasty as those in Kakiya, so it’s going to be difficult to choose between the two.

3. Momijido
Meanwhile, Momijido is an unassuming standing food store and dessert shop that serves momiji manju, a type of manju made with buckwheat and rice powder filled with a sweet paste, usually azuki or red bean paste. So, it’s like munching on some Magnum ice cream flavored red bean. They’re the perfect snack to eat while walking around the island.

4. Okonomiyaki Kishibe

Wouldn’t you feel like your craving for endless okonomiyaki after your climb on Mount Misen? Okonomiyaki with glasses of refreshing beverage, right? Well, you’re not alone. After your hike, head over to Okonomiyaki Kishibe, a restaurant serving delicious okonomiyaki. The recommended order is their Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki made with squid, shrimp, ikaten or crumbled squid crackers, pork, egg, green onion, and either soba or udon. 5. KAKIFUKUMARU

Another store that sells momiji manju is HAKATAYA on Omotesando Shopping Street. But, they take the traditional momiji manju one step further by serving it deep-fried, that’s right. Their version is known to be the famous Miyajima jakee. Try to believe it.

Now, Miyajima Brewery is more like a beverage store than a restaurant, but it earned a spot on this list because of how it specializes in incredibly tasty craft beers that are not mainstream, mind you, but locally Hiroshima, a welcome change from the standard big-name Japanese beers widely served elsewhere.
